Corona Chaos: Are the super-rich the only one’s who are prepared?

By day 15 (or 20 or 100?) of this quarantine I’m sure that all of you are incredibly tired of reading about COVID-19 and experiencing the inevitable anxiety that it accompanies.  This pandemic seems to be something that most people – including the government – have failed to prepare for in advance.  However, there appears to be one, small group of people that have been preparing for the seemingly inevitable for quite some time – super-rich survivalists.

That’s right, the super-rich have been preparing underground bunkers and stockpiling goods for several years now.  Specifically, Bill Gates as well as several other billionaires, have been buying and building luxury bunkers.  These are not your 1950’s bunkers without running water and packed with canned goods.  Instead, they are packed to the max with spa-like amenities such as home (bunker?) theaters, pools, and fitness centers. 

Not to sound like a conspiracy theorist but this begs the question – has the elite known something that we didn’t for several years?  I doubt it.  I think the more likely reasoning is that they, unlike the other 90% of the population, have the funds to prepare for such a crisis.
