In the current news cycle, we hear about what the FBI is doing just about every minute. For those of you that don’t know, the FBI does more than just investigate crimes on American soil. The FBI also has what is referred to as the “Vault.” In the Vault you will find more than just the typical FBI files that you can review online. The Vault contains some of the FBI’s lesser known cases, such as those involving unexplained phenomenon.
Last week, the FBI released their files on another fringe topic—Bigfoot. Yes, that’s right! They released 22 files on their investigation into sampling hair samples of an alleged Bigfoot. The 22-page report begins with legendary Bigfoot hunter Mr. Peter Byrne.
Peter Byrne asked the FBI in 1976 to analyze hairs that he believed to be from a Bigfoot. The FBI agreed to test the hair for scientific research. Now, I know we were all hoping that it would come back and the FBI would say, “Hey, Bigfoot is real!” Obviously, this didn’t happen or we would have heard about it in the news.
In the end, the hairs were determined to be a member of the deer family (see p.18). This does not mean that there is no North American primate. This is simply part of the journey to get to the bottom of the mystery.
