By now everyone that has Facebook and is friends with William Dranginis has probably heard of the sad news of his passing on December 3, 2018. I just wanted to share a remembrance article of my time of working with him.
In 2010, I was working on my documentary “Modern Monster” and I contacted William because he ran the Virginia Bigfoot Research Organization (VBRO). He started his research after he experienced his own sighting of Bigfoot in the 90’s. After his encounter, he would invest a lot of time and money trying to prove that Bigfoot was real.
William invited me and my wife (girlfriend at the time) to his off the grid cabin to spend a Saturday with him. We spent most of the day filming his interview for my documentary and listening to stories about his research.
Getting to hear him describe his sighting and inventions to try and prove Bigfoot’s real blew my mind and taught me more than I could ever learn from scanning the web.
After filming with William in 2010, we stayed in touch through phone calls, emails, and Facebook. As his friends know, he continued his work as a researcher. This research was not limited to Bigfoot sightings. He also bought a boat and made his way up to Lake Champlain to look for Champ.
I wanted again to thank William by writing this article because he was always very nice and encouraging to me as a young researcher. There’s no doubt in my mind that when Bigfoot is proven to exist William Dranginis will be listed in the history as one of the people that helped pave the way to the discovery. Rest in peace William.
