Faking the Video

Faking the Video

When it comes to internet it’s hard to not believe the things we see and hope are real/true. This isn’t limited to politics.  It is also an issue that the paranormal/cryptozoology community has been dealing with since these subjects became more main stream in the early 1900’s. This is what lead Harry Houdini to investigate the paranormal and try to expose psychics and mediums.

Faking evidence continues to be an issue today.  This is mostly due to people trying to get clicks on their videos in hopes that they go viral. However, this sets the field back and makes it even harder for investigators to prove real evidence when it is collected.

I’m sure by now most people that use the internet have seen the video of car crashes where a vehicle runs into an “invisible” car. I’m not going to call anyone out, but many of my friends shared the video.  Last week, I saw it make more rounds on Facebook.

The problem is that it is not only fake, but many of my friends believed it. The video was actually made by Italian graphic designer Donato Sansone. If anyone that posted the video would have spent a few minutes on a google search they would have found this information easily.

The moral of the story is before you post a meme, video, or news article make sure you do a quick google search and fact check it. Nothing makes you look more ridiculous when you’re trying to prove a point and a simple google search shows it’s not true. Below is a video of the original clips before Donato made his edits that blew up the internet.
