We moved into a new house when I was 6 years old. I was given the room in the back of the house, which had a closed off fireplace under a huge wooden mantle. I told my mom the fireplace creeped me out. We put my bed in front of it so I wouldn't have to look at it. It was almost immediately after we settled into this house that I started having dreams/nightmares about a little girl around my age. The dreams were always similar.
In my first dream, the little girl (Emily) was stuck inside the walls of the house. I could hear her scratching at them and trying to get out. I started sleeping with my parents because I didn't dream about her when I slept in their room. As time went by, the dreams kept occurring, but it stopped scaring me as much and I went back to sleeping in my bedroom. I told my mom a girl was dead in the walls. Of course, she told me it was just nightmares and I needed to stop watching horror movies so much.
I started having another dream as I got older where I see Emily running through the house. She would want play hide and seek. She crawls up inside the fireplace, and when no one would come to find her, she'd fall asleep waiting. A man, who I assume is her dad, comes in the room to light the fireplace, and accidentally burns her alive.
About 5 years ago, my dad tore out the ceilings in my room and part of the bathroom exposing the fireplace. Right beside the chimney bricks, a little girl’s shoe fell out. The shoe was older and appeared to be handmade. It was held together at the bottom with tiny nails.
